New generation of system flash units – Metz M400
Photo and Video Light specialist Metz is set to unveil a new generation of compact system flash units at photokina 2016 with the new Metz mecablitz M400.
Zirndorf- Metz launches the mecablitz M400, a system flash unit with a compact build. The M400 is over 30 per cent more compact compared with traditional flash units. The specially developed M400 is well-suited to photographers and videographers who expect high performance from their flash units. This reliable, high-performance flash appeals to all photographers – from amateurs to enthusiasts to professionals.
M400 is powerful, with a guide number of 40 (ISO 100/21°, 105mm), to cope with almost any shooting scenario. The M400 features AUTO TTL (the camera controls the flash unit automatically) making it perfect for flash novices. Depending on the camera, the M400 also offers wireless TTL flash as either master or slave. This allows the flash unit to be controlled and triggered off-camera via optical signals. The M400 comes with an adjustable LED video light for video usage and/or as a modelling light. M400 adds more flexibility in light control with the swivel reflector, integrated reflector card and wide-angle diffuser.
Uncompromisingly compact high performance
The Metz mecatech development team has succeeded in developing a system flash unit that is more compact. Mr Jouhki, CEO of Metz mecatech GmbH emphasizes: “The camera body is generally more compact with mirrorless cameras. Hence the demand we’re seeing for a compact flash unit that has an attractive design but does not compromise on performance and features.”
High Speed Synchronization (HSS and FP)
With high speed synchronization, photographers can use flash with shutter speeds that are faster than the native flash sync of the camera. The result: flash photos with large apertures are possible in high ambient light levels, for example in order to limit the depth of field in portrait shots.
Unique operating concept
The new Metz M400 uses a clear, well-organized user interface with an innovative OLED display, which provides a clear view of all relevant information, such as flash settings.
Like all Metz system flash units, this new flash is perfectly tailored to digital cameras made by leading manufacturers. Versions are available for Canon, Nikon, Olympus/Panasonic/Leica, Pentax, Sony and Fujifilm.
Ready for the future
To ensure that your flash is always up to date, software updates can be conveniently installed from your personal computer via the micro USB interface. Therefore, the Metz M400 will remain compatible with any new camera models launched onto the market.
“Made in Germany”, of course.
The Metz M400 has been developed and manufactured exclusively in Germany, continuing the tradition of sturdy build quality and robust materials.
